Position Summary:
The High School Culinary Arts Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, hands-on instruction in culinary arts that prepares students for post-secondary education and careers in the hospitality and food service industry. The successful candidate will create a safe, industry-standard learning environment while teaching culinary techniques, food safety, nutrition, restaurant operations, and employability skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards.
Provide hands-on instruction in culinary fundamentals, food preparation, baking, sanitation, nutrition, menu planning, and restaurant operations.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment in accordance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Instruct students in food safety and sanitation practices
Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials that promote student engagement and career readiness.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Assess student performance and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and progress.
Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey teaching certification in Culinary Arts or appropriate certification as required by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Experience in the culinary industry is preferred.
Previous teaching or training experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety regulations, and current culinary industry practices.
Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
