The Position: We’re looking for a Part Time Travel & Tourism Lecturer - 15 hours per week

Are you passionate about Travel and Tourism and excited about sharing your industry knowledge? Whether you're an experienced educator or looking to transition into teaching, we’re seeking individuals with a strong understanding of the travel, tourism and aviation sectors. As a Travel and Tourism Lecturer, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your professional expertise and play a key role in developing learners, from entry-level students through to advanced programmes. Delivery may include a range of qualifications across full-time, part-time and evening provision, supporting the growth and employability of our learners. The range of qualifications may include Level 1 through to Level 3 Travel and Tourism programmes, aligned with awarding body requirements and our section’s development plan.

What skills are we looking for:

Travel & Tourism Industry Knowledge: Strong applied understanding of the travel and tourism sector, including destinations, customer service, sustainable tourism, tour operations, aviation, hospitality, and relevant legislation.

Passion for Teaching: Genuine enthusiasm for teaching travel and tourism subjects and inspiring learners’ interest in global travel, cultures, and industry careers.

Student Guidance and Support: Ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds and abilities, promoting confidence, progression, and employability skills. • Collaboration and Teamwork: Willingness to work closely with colleagues to enhance the travel and tourism curriculum and contribute to programme development.

Adaptability and Innovation: Openness to innovative teaching approaches, digital learning tools, and keeping up to date with current industry trends and developments.

Organisational Skills: Effective organisation of lessons, assessments, resources, and learning activities, including trips or guest speakers where appropriate.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to use real-world tourism scenarios to develop students’ analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities for the role:

You will be responsible for lecturing on a variety of topics with reference to travel and tourism, aviation and cabin crew.

You will be responsible for developing resources for teaching and learning.

You will be responsible for supporting learners through the teaching and tutorial processes.

You will be responsible for marking learners’ work and carrying out quality assurance activities, including assessment standardisation, internal verification and ensuring assessment practice meets awarding body and organisational requirements.

Accurate and secure record keeping, tracking learners’ attendance, behaviour and progress. GDPR compliance

Keeping up to date with developments in the travel and tourism industry and continuing with your professional development.
