The School of Sports and Health, a leading institution in sports and health education, invites passionate and driven individuals to join its dynamic team. The Diploma in Outdoor Education (DOE) team aspires to be a prominent thought leader, recognized as a trusted and relevant
source for research, training, and development within the outdoor education, recreation, and special needs sectors.
[What you will be working on]
Associate Lecturer for Diploma in Outdoor Education will contribute towards the following:
• Deliver quality Pre-Employment Training (PET) modules and Continuing Education
and Training (CET) programmes, in areas such as
• Climbing and Abseiling
• Kayaking
• Challenge Course Management
• Land-based outdoor skills such as campcraft and navigation
• Supervision and management
• Instruction and Facilitation
• Adventure and experiential education
• Environmental studies and Nature interpretation
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to holistic student development, including mentoring, guidance, and support for students’ academic, personal, and professional growth.
• Serve as a positive role model for students, exemplifying professionalism, integrity, care, and responsible conduct in all learning and engagement contexts.
• Develop relevant curriculum based on up-to-date industry practices and research findings in outdoor technical skills
[What we are looking for]
• Qualification in related disciplines, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good time management and organizational / administrative skills to complete tasks
on time.
• Agility to learn and adapt to changes.
• Possess the passion for the outdoors, responsible, reliable, independent, pro-active,
problem-solving initiative, resourceful and a good team player.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain quality
working relationships with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Proficient in the following methods of instruction and facilitation skills:
• Group management skills
• Group facilitation and review skills
• Presentation and lecturing skills
• Programme/game design and lesson planning skills
• Advanced certification relevant outdoor and adventure skills such as;
• Kayak Level 3 Coaching and/or
• Climbing Instructor Category 2 and/or
• Abseiling Level 3.
• First Aid and CPR AED certification
• Experience in designing and conducting programmes for participants with disabilities,
elderly or children will be an advantage
