Grand Valley State University’s Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is seeking an affiliate faculty member, effective August 6, 2026, with experience in food and beverage operations. This is a 9-month affiliate academic appointment, subject to funding approval.

Primary Duties:

Teaching and mentoring undergraduate students both online and on campus.

Teach a baseline of 12 credits per semester including a cooking class in the culinary lab.

Fulfilling service responsibilities within the HTM department.

Establishing professional relationships with companies and organizations in the hospitality industry.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Master’s degree in hospitality or related field.

Demonstrated expertise in food and beverage, including cooking instruction.

Evidence of effective and innovative college-level teaching.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Student-centered focus and values quality teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.

Variety of experiences in the hospitality industry (minimum 5 years).

ServSafe (or similar) certification.

Working Conditions:

Must have the physical stamina to teach courses ranging in time from 75 minutes to 3 hours.

Able to grocery shop, deliver food to the kitchen lab and teach in a kitchen lab setting for the duration of the course.

Salary & Benefits: $56,000-$57,500; commensurate with experience.
