Summary of the position
The Freelance Lecturer at Berlin School of Business and Innovation (all campuses, all faculties) will be the principle academic contact and leader for the assigned Course/Unit/Module/ Dissertation/ Project/ Internship. Please note that there is no differentiation in the standards or requirements of the tasks for Freelance or Fulltime faculty. The Freelance arrangement is just a mode of engagement to offer you greater flexibility.
Responsibilities:
As a Freelance Lecturer, you will be requested to contribute to one or more of the following:
A. Teaching
B. Research Supervision
C. Combination of Teaching and Research
Depending on the tasks assigned and as per the accepted terms and conditions, as specified in your contract, you will be required to perform the following tasks:
Teaching the assigned academic modules according to the curriculum and as per the agreed timetable.
Amending or designing and developing a new curriculum for a Course/Unit/Module, if required.
Creating learning material including power point presentations and other supporting material, as per the requirements.
Providing consultation and mentoring to students.
Ensuring the guidance required to students for development of relevant skills as per the objectives and learning outcomes of the Course/Unit/Module.
Preparing students for summative assessment through guidance and formative assessment, as applicable.
Communicate effectively with students and providing regular feedback about learning.
Playing a proactive role in promoting the school through academic activities and thought leadership.
Monitoring student performance or assisting students in academic environments, such as classrooms, laboratories, internships or projects.
Supervising Dissertations/ Projects/ Internship as per the prescribed standards.
Participating in School’s activities as assigned by the Dean of the Faculty and/or Chief Academic Officer.
Your tasks:
In line with the job responsibilities described earlier, your tasks mainly be one or more of the following as assigned by the Dean of the Faculty/ Chief Academic Officer:
Conducting Teaching Session
Mentoring and guiding students for accomplishing the desired learning outcomes
Supervising Dissertation
Guiding Projects and Internship activities
Preparation of Assignments and Tasks Descriptions for Assessment
Examination and Evaluation related work
Mentoring students and providing them regular feedback
Creating learning material and supporting resources
Any other academic tasks as assigned and mutually agreed.
Essential:
PhD or equivalent qualification with evidence of theoretical/ practical knowledge in your domain of expertise.
Strong knowledge of practical tools and techniques, if applicable, in your domain od knowledge.
Very good knowledge of Windows OS, of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Fluent in spoken and written English (C2 level).
Very good organisational and communication skills.
High social competence and assertiveness.
Maintaining an overview even with high workloads.
Resilient and flexible.
Desirable:
Scientific publications in a related discipline.
Prior teaching experience in higher education at the University level.
Professional experience in your field of expertise.
Knowledge of Educational Platforms (i.e., Canvas, Blackboard etc.).
Sound knowledge of study regulations and rules.
