Not every conversation belongs in the margin of the text. For questions about direction, scheduling, or anything broader than a single passage, take the discussion to chat, with the document attached so everyone knows what you are talking about.
Start a chat from the editor
Choose Messages in the editor menu
With the document open, select Messages from the menu strip. A badge on the item shows unread activity about this document.
Pick who to talk to
The chat launcher opens with a message already drafted that names and links the document. Choose a colleague or an existing conversation.
Send
Recipients get the message with the document link, so they can open it directly, subject to its sharing settings.
Share a document into any conversation
You can also go the other way: inside any chat, share a document to drop a rich card that links straight to it. See Share documents, events & more into chat.
Chat, comments, or review?
