Export to PDF & Word

2 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Documents & the editor

Your documents stay editable on Scholardemia, but you can take a formatted copy anywhere. Export lives in the editor’s File menu and produces a file you can attach, print, or hand to a co-author who works elsewhere.

Export formats

  • PDF: a fixed, print-ready copy. Your citations are rendered and a references section is included automatically.
  • Word: a .docx file that stays editable in Microsoft Word and compatible apps.
  • Markdown: a lightweight plain-text format for tools that work with Markdown.
  • HTML: a portable web-page copy of the document.

Export a document

  1. Open the document

Open it in the editor from your documents list.

  2. Choose File, then Export

In the menu strip, open File and point to Export.

  3. Pick a format

Select PDF, Word, Markdown, or HTML. The file downloads to your device.

Print preview

To print directly, choose File and then Print preview. This shows the document as it will appear on paper before you send it to your printer.

Importing the other way

The File menu also offers Import, which converts Word, PDF, LaTeX, Markdown, or plain-text files into editable document content. This is the quickest way to bring existing manuscripts onto Scholardemia.

Export looking wrong? Complex layouts can differ slightly between formats. If an export misses content that is visible in the editor, email support@scholardemia.com with the document title and the format you used.
