Discount codes

2 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Events & conferences

Discount codes let you offer reduced or free registration to specific groups, such as students, members, or speakers, without creating extra ticket tiers. Organisers manage codes from the Discounts tab of the event admin console.

Creating a code

  • Value: a percentage of the ticket price (up to 100 percent, which makes registration free) or a fixed amount off. The discount never exceeds the eligible total.
  • Usage limits: cap total redemptions across the event and limit how many times one person can use the code.
  • Validity window: optional start and expiry dates, so a code can open with your call and lapse at the early-bird cut-off.
  • Conditions: restrict a code to particular ticket types, or require a minimum number of tickets or a minimum spend. Codes can be deactivated at any time and carry private notes for your records.

How attendees use a code

During registration, attendees enter the code in the promo code field and apply it before confirming; the reduced total is shown immediately. Codes also work in group registration and can be attached when joining a waitlist, and they are not case-sensitive. If a code cannot be applied, the message explains why, for example that it has expired, reached its usage limit, or does not cover the selected ticket.

Refunds release redemptions. If a registration that used a code is refunded or removed, the redemption is returned to the code’s allowance, so limited codes are not wasted. Pricing details are covered in Registration & ticket types.
