Search everything: scopes & filters

2 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Feed, discovery & careers

Global search at /search covers two worlds. The Scholardemia source searches everything you can see on the platform, and the Academic web source searches the wider scholarly index of papers, people, institutions, and sources.

Narrow with scopes

Results start with everything mixed; scope tabs narrow to one kind of thing. On the Scholardemia source the scopes include:

  • People, Documents, Publications, and Papers,
  • Events, Calendar, Learning, and Projects,
  • Careers, Data, Inbox, Bookmarks, Reviews, and Issues.

On the Academic web source the scopes are Papers, People, Institutions, and Sources.

Filters worth knowing

Every search can be sorted and limited by date. Scholardemia-source searches add a relation filter: everything visible to you, only things you own, things shared with you, or things you have saved. That last one turns search into a fast way back to a half-remembered bookmark.

Where results lead

People results on the Scholardemia source open their profiles; documents, events, and the rest open in their own tools. Academic web results open reference pages on the platform for the underlying scholarly records, so you can explore an author or institution before following up elsewhere.

You can reach search from anywhere with the command palette; see Global search & the command palette.
