Notification preferences

3 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Messaging, inbox & notifications

Notification preferences live under Settings → Notifications, where you can review and save your choices. In-app notifications always appear in the bell and on your notifications page (with All, Unread, and Mentions tabs); the preferences control what also reaches you outside the app.

Channels

  • Push: browser notifications on devices where you have enabled them. See Push notifications.
  • Email: messages to your inbox.
  • SMS: text messages. Off by default, and requires a verified phone number in your security settings. Replying STOP to a text switches SMS off again.

Two optional emails sit alongside the channels: product updates, and a weekly digest of new activity in topics you follow. Both are off unless you turn them on.

Notification types

Below the channel switches, each kind of notification has its own per-channel toggles: likes and applause, comments and replies, mentions, chat, tasks and reviews, documents and sharing, events and calendar, learning and courses, and system notices. Turn a type off for one channel while keeping it on another; for example, mentions by push but not by email.

Quiet hours

Set a nightly window (with its timezone) during which notifications are held back. The defaults are 22:00 to 07:00 once enabled. High-priority alerts still come through, so quiet hours never hide something urgent.

Too much noise from one conversation? Mute that conversation from chat instead of turning off the whole chat category; muting is per-conversation and reversible. See Start a conversation.

Still stuck? Talk to a person.

Our support team reads every message. Include what you were doing, any error message, and a screenshot if you have one; it usually saves a round-trip.
