Tasks, assignees & due dates

3 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Projects, tasks & calendar

Tasks are the cards on a project board. Each task carries enough detail to make ownership and timing visible: who is doing it, when it is due, and how far along it is.

Create a task

Open a project from Projects and add a task to any column on the board. Give it a title, and open the card to add a description and everything else. The column a task sits in is its status; drag the card to move it forward.

What a task can carry

  • Assignee: one owner per task. Others who need to stay informed can be added as watchers.
  • Dates: a start date, an end date, and a due date.
  • Priority: Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.
  • Tags: label tasks so they are easy to filter and group.
  • Subtasks: a checklist of smaller steps; each item can have its own assignee.
  • Comments and attachments: discuss the work in place, @-mention colleagues, and attach files.
  • Reminder: get nudged shortly before the due time, from a few minutes up to a day ahead.
  • Repeat: recurring tasks can repeat daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly; the next occurrence is created automatically.

See everything assigned to you

The My Tasks view lists open tasks assigned to you across every project you can access. Inside a single project, the board and list views also offer a My tasks filter preset. For a flat overview of all tasks across your projects (not just your own), see Tasks.

Due dates do more than display. Tasks approaching their due date can trigger project automations, and reminders are delivered through your notification preferences. See Project automations.
