Your username is the short handle that identifies you across the platform and forms part of your public profile address. It is created automatically when you sign up, usually in the form firstname.lastname based on the name you provided, with a number added if that handle is already taken.
How to change it
Usernames cannot be edited from settings; the field in Settings → Profile is read-only. If yours needs correcting, for example after a legal name change or because of a typo in the name you signed up with, email support@scholardemia.com from the address on your account and tell us the handle you would like. We keep this manual because usernames appear in shared links and citations of your profile.
What changes, and what stays
- Changes: your public profile address, and the handle colleagues see when they mention or search for you.
- Stays the same: your documents, publications, messages, followers, badges, and sign-in details. Your account is identified internally by a stable ID, not the handle.
