Close or delete your account

3 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Account & sign-in

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone, so the flow is designed to slow you down just enough to be sure. Export a copy of your data first; once deletion runs, there is nothing left to recover.

Export your data first

In Settings → Privacy & Data, use Export Your Data to request a ZIP archive containing your profile data, posts, publications, and connections. Most exports complete within a few minutes, and a download button appears when yours is ready. Also save local copies of any documents you want to keep.

Delete the account

  1. Open the danger zone

Still in Privacy & Data, scroll to the danger zone and choose Delete Account.

  2. Confirm it is really you

Type the confirmation text shown in the dialog (your username or email), and enter your current password if your account has one. Accounts that sign in only through a provider such as Google skip the password field.

  3. Confirm deletion

Select the final delete button. Your session ends and removal begins.

What is removed

  • Your profile and personal information
  • Your posts, documents, and other content
  • Your messages and conversations
  • Your projects, tasks, and associated files
If you manage a journal, lab, or organisation Page, hand over ownership before deleting so colleagues are not locked out. Unsure what depends on your account? Email support@scholardemia.com and we will check before you press the button.

Our support team reads every message. Include what you were doing, any error message, and a screenshot if you have one; it usually saves a round-trip.
