An online presence for your organisation

2 min readUpdated 10 July 2026Profile, presence & badges

On Scholardemia, an organisation’s public presence is built on workspaces: a lab, research group, department, society, or journal gets a full public site of its own rather than a thin directory page. Which route to take depends on what the group does.

Labs, groups & departments

For a research lab, group, centre, or department, create a lab from the account menu or the membership page. The setup dialog walks you from a name to a live public site with its own pages, theme, and team, all editable afterwards from the workspace console. See Start a lab on Scholardemia for the full walkthrough.

Journals & societies that publish

If the organisation runs a journal, the journal itself is the public presence: a themed site with an editorial board page, issues, and news that readers can follow. See Journal site themes & pages.

Hiring institutions

Universities and organisations that recruit through Scholardemia Careers appear in the hiring institutions directory, with a public page listing their open roles. Public institution pages are reserved for verified institutions, and verification is handled through the Careers employer workflow.

Choosing the right home

  • Research group or department → create a lab workspace.
  • Journal or publishing society → set up the journal site.
  • Employer recruiting researchers → a verified Careers institution page.
